Nov. 14, 2009, We will have another Barn Thang, with Bluegrass Reunion performing. They have added some personnel to the band and I am expecting a good crowd and another great evening of entertainment.
Well, OK, I got behind posting the website. We had three shows since I last posted. The Grubb family was here in Nov. 2008, and they brought the house down. It was a cold night and the barn was packed with people. They did a super job.
Then on Feb. 21, 2009, the Lonesome Prairie Bluegrass Band was here. Again, at the risk of sounding repetitive, they put on an outstanding evening of entertainment. The place was packed, and from comments received, folks had a wonderful evening. Lonesome Prairie knows how to play fine music and how to entertain!!
On May 16, 2009, the Nickleville Road ran right into the Barn. This is another group of very strong musicians, who demonstrated their prowess for arrangement and style. And, by the way, a load of humor and fun. Another highly enjoyable evening of bluegrass music and fun. Somehow, Bobby Brite, the mandolin player got loose, and folks were too weak from laughing to get out of their chairs. We’ve just never had a bad band at the Barn.
September 20, 2008. A Barn Thang in Collinsville. Our Guest Band was Copper Canyon. With Tom Smith doing lead vocals, and the timeless Joe Hood on banjo, they were as good as I ever heard them. Lots of energy, a good ‘rowdy’ crowd, coffee, tea and snacks added up to a great evening of bluegrass and fun. Again the Lord provided PERFECT weather for the event, and the crowd was spilling out of the barn.
September 6, 2008, Grass Notes played at the Heritage Bluegrass festival in Arlington. The crowd started small, but ended up being pretty good. Lots of jamming outside, air-conditioned inside, lots of bands, lots of talent, so it was a well done event.
August 29,30 – Salmon Lake Bluegrass Festival, Grapeland, Texas. Grass Notes played two show at the Festival. Friday night was a bit wet, we played right after a pretty good rain shower. Saturday night was fantastic, the crowd was large and we felt we got really good response from the audience. It was a great weekend. If you have never been to Salmon Lake, let me recommend it to you.
April 19,2008 - The Barn Thang was another good time. The Lord provided us with PERFECT weather, the snacks and drinks were plentiful, and the crowd was enthusiastic. The guest band, Warren Hull and Acoux de Ville, was superb. Folks appeared to have an enjoyable evening.
We will probably do the next Barn Thang in September, due to the crazy schedules between now and August.
Don’t forget, Grass Notes will be a the Chrystal Opry House in Tom Bean, TX on March 28th. We are looking forward to an evening of Gospel Bluegrass music. Come on out and see us, and support Bill and Annette Hayes at the Chrystal Opry House. Call them at 903 546 6893 for more info or go to www.chrystalopryhouse.com .
Feb. 16, 2008 – Despite rain and cold, we had a good turnout and good music at the Barn Thang. The Hogwallow Boys, and a short guest appearance by The Grubb Family, plus a really good jam session made for a fine evening of music and fun.
August 25th, 2007, we played a guest spot at Perrin Bluegrass Festival. It is a very nice park, and we had a good time.
September 14, 2007 – We were at the Individual Care of Texas, in Quinlan.
